Thesis title : Psychopathic Acting-Out as an Attempt at the Emergence of Affect: Restoring Psychic Vitality in the Face of Psychic Death

This qualitative research, grounded in a psychoanalytic epistemological framework, aims to explore the psychic processes at work in psychopathic functioning, particularly those involved in the propensity for action, inner emptiness, and processes of internalization and representation. It also seeks to examine the theoretical models that have historically contributed to conceptualizing psychopathy, with particular attention to the areas that remain insufficiently explored in light of contemporary clinical practice.

Based on the in-depth study of two clinical cases, using research interviews and projective testing, this work will seek to identify the dynamics of the psychic processes involved in psychopathic functioning. Particular attention will be paid to the transference and countertransference movements elicited by the clinical encounter, considered as a means of accessing relational modalities and psychic functioning. The aim is thus to maintain an attentive stance toward the subject’s singularity, beyond psychopathological categorization.

This research therefore seeks to contribute to a better understanding of psychopathy and acting-out behaviours, while also opening up perspectives for the clinical care of these subjects, particularly in psychiatric and prison settings.
